CHORUSES
The need for musical expression means that many towns have important choruses, choral societies, traditional student music groups and music schools, in addition to an extensive range of popular songs. A good example of this is "Itxas Soinua", a chorale from Lekeitio comprising 50 white voices, of international renown, and “Unanue Kamara Korala” chorale from Ondarroa, a musical association under the name of the famous tenor, Pedro María de Unanue (1814-1846), who was born in Lekeitio. The great composer Gotzon Aulestia (1940-2003) was also born there.

CONCERTS
During the month of May, with its Ancient Music Concerts, the Ziortza-Bolibar Collegiate Church is transformed into one of the most important auditoriums in the Basque Country. Groups and soloists of the highest international prestige take part in the Concerts. The Collegiate Church's valuable organ, considered to be the oldest one in Euskal Herria, is the main instrument in the concerts that raise high expectations among the public.
In July and August, the towns of Markina-Xemein, Ondarroa and Lekeitio organise four important musical events: the Hiru Harriko Konzertuak, the Pedro Mª de Unanue Musical Cycle, the Itxas Soinua music festival, and the popular Inter Musika, a musical sample of a variety of styles.
